You’ve probably noticed if you’ve ever moved your furniture a “footprint” of the furniture. Use of furniture glides or cups will help prevent this. If it’s too late, try roughing the depression up to get the pile back up, then dampen the spot and heat it with a hair dryer to reset the fibers.
Texture Protection
High traffic areas can have added  protection with strategically placed area rugs that can be rotated. Texture will naturally wear after time but this added ounce of protection will prolong it’s beauty.
Fiber Popup
If you ever have a piece of yard loosen and is protruding from the carpet, don’t pull it. Instead snip with scissors to the level of the rest of the pile. Pulling them out can worsen the problem. When arranging furniture just try keeping the front legs or edge of your sofa (depending on size of room and rug), loveseat and accent chairs on the rug; the back legs can remain on or off depending on the rug’s size.
Dining Room
For easy dining and best appearance the chair legs should sit on the rug. Aim for 18″-24″ of rug on all sides of the table so that the back legs of the chairs stay on the rug, even when the chair is pulled out.
Bedroom
Comfort is the key in the bedroom: area rugs should extend beyond the sides of the bed at least 18″ for a king or queen and 12″ for a full or twin. You can also scatter area rugs to define the areas in front of the bed or dresser to add warmth and luxury.
Kitchen
Your kitchen rug will need to be easy to clean and durable. Go for runners in front of the sink and work areas to cushion you and help reduce fatigue. Smaller rugs can add interest, but use padding or opt for styles with rubber backing so they’ll stay put and away from the main high traffic path.

A: Yes. Many times, rugs lying over wall to wall carpeting will shift and buckle as they are walked on. A special non-slip pad is available to reduce that movement so the rug doesn’t need to be adjusted as often.

Q: What types of padding does Ayoub N&H Carpet & Rugs carry?
A: Â We carry several types of padding depending on the size of the rug and function of the padding.
For Large sized rugs, from about 7′x10′ and over, that are heavy enough that they don’t move or slide, or are anchored down by furniture, we recommend our “Fiber” padding.

Provides cushion to protect the rug and give added comfort
For Medium sized rugs, from about 4′ x 6′ and up, we recommend “Rug Stay Padding”. It can also be used on large rugs that have a tendency to shift.

One side is coated with rubber to provide non-slip qualities. The other side has a rough texture to help hold the rug in place.

For Small sized rugs, we have an “Anchor” padding. It is a 1/8″ thick solid rubber that helps hold small rugs in place. This pad is the best for non-slip qualities, but doesn’t provide much cushion.

The three types listed above are all cut to fit the rug. We would get the exact dimensions of the rugs and cut it based on that measurement, usually allowing the rug to overlap the padding by about 1″. If the customer does not want to bring in the rug, they can give us the measurement, not including the fringe, and we can cut the padding based on their measurements.
We also have pre-packaged types of padding that can be purchased and cut using a pair of scissors.  Although these pads will not last as long as the others, it is the least expensive option.
Pre Packaged Premiere pad comes in sizes from 3′ x 5′ to 9′ x 12′ and is used for rugs going over a hard surface such as wood, laminate, ceramic tile, etc.
Miracle Hold pad comes in sizes from 3′ x 5′ to 9′ x 12′ and is used for rugs going over wall to wall carpeting or other area rugs. It acts similar to a double sided tape and helps grip the rug to the carpet underneath.
